Annadale Army Heritage Museum is located near the Annadale ground. The museum is dedicated to the Indian army and showcases the history of the Indian Army for more than 2000 years. Surrounded by the thick deodar forest there is also a beautiful nag devta temple located near the museum.
Craignano Nature Park and Naldehra
Craignano Nature Park is a newly added attraction in Mashobra, famous for its beautiful gardens, nature walks, peaceful surroundings and small fun activities for children. Visitors can enjoy the surroundings of the garden with succulent plants, blooming flowers, singing birds and fresh air. All the beauties of nature, amidst dense evergreen forests of deodar, are waiting to be discovered at Glen. The Glen walks start off with the gentle meandering trails through the deodar forest. The meandering trails get tougher as you get further ahead the small stream deep in the forest. The full day hike can be done either from Glen or from the starting point near the Advanced studies gate.
Wildlife is fairly abundant at Glen as well as bird life. The trails are fairly wide and even though there is a separate well defined path for beginners, it is a fairly easy hike and can be done without a guide, but a local one will help you spot the wildlife easier and tell you about various types of trees and shrubs.
Shimla water catchment and wildlife sanctuary
Shimla water catchment is a great offbeat destination to enjoy a pleasure trip in the lap of nature. Situated at a height of 7200 ft., the place attracts nature lovers from all over the globe. It is also a great spot to enjoy mountain biking. The bike track is 7 km long and is designed in such a way so as to take you through varied geographical landscapes from dense forest to open meadows and from snow clad mountains to a serene pond. You can start your ride from the entry gate situated near Charrabra. There is an entry fee into the park and one can also rent a bicycle at nominal rates to ride inside the park.
The place is situated 8kms from the city center ahead of Sanjauli Dhalli tunnel towards Kufri.
Chadwick Falls and Summer Hill Railway Station
Summer hill railway station is a beautiful and quiet little railway station located on the UNESCO world Heritage Kalka-Shimla railway line. The railway station is located near the Advanced studies and once was the private station of the viceroy of India.
Even the name Chadwick sounds cool, don’t you think? Well, Chadwick Falls is one of the hidden offbeat spots in Shimla. The Chadwick waterfall is located 3 kms further from the Summer Chowk near the village of Hiun. The waterfall is accessible only by a small trail surrounded by deep dense forest. It is a good place for nature lovers & photography enthusiasts.
